COACHES
Our coaching staff is comprised of highly experienced professionals, all of whom have played at the highest levels in the National Lacrosse League (NLL), Major League Lacrosse (MLL), or the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). With their expertise, passion for the game, and dedication to player development, our coaches are committed to helping every athlete reach their full potential, both on and off the field.

Steve Holmes
Co-Founder
8-YEAR NLL VETERAN | UNIONVILLE H.S. HC
Holmes is a co-founder of Penn*Lax All-Stars and has coached multiple championship-level teams with Penn*Lax. Holmes was a captain at the University of Virginia before launching a standout 8-year playing career in both the NLL and MLL professional leagues including a championship with the New York Lizards in his last season. Coach Holmes is currently the Head Coach at Unionville High School and has been instrumental in helping usher in box lacrosse in the Eastern United States including hosting 6 box lacrosse tournaments via the Fusion Lacrosse club and US Box Lacrosse.

Adam Muller
Head Coach
11- YEAR NLL VET | TEAM USA BOX COACH
Mueller is a co-coach with the Penn*Lax Platinum (High School) box lacrosse team that went undefeated in 2017 and won several elite tournaments. Mueller is an 11 year veteran of the NLL having played in Philly, Baltimore, Albany and Detroit. He was also head coach of Philly, Minnesota and the NY Titans, where he was awarded NLL Coach of the Year in 2008. On top of this impressive resume, he also coached Team USA’s indoor team in 2015.

Ryan Traynor
Head Coach
NLL VET | FORMER PHILADELPHIA WING
Traynor was a multiple sport star and hall of famer (soccer and lacrosse) at both Randolph Macon and Malvern Preparatory school. Ryan played and excelled with multiple Philadelphia Wings (NLL) championship teams. Currently, Coach Traynor coaches with the Freedom Lacrosse club in addition to Penn*Lax All-Stars.

Mac O'keefe
Offensive Coach
NCAA ALL-TIME GOALS LEADER |
3X ALL-AMERICAN | 3X PLL CHAMPION
O’Keefe is one of the most prolific goal scorers in lacrosse history. A Penn State standout, he finished his collegiate career as the NCAA Division I all-time goals leader with 221 goals and earned three USILA All-American honors.
O’Keefe was selected 6th overall in the 2021 PLL Draft and has won three PLL Championships (2021, 2023, 2024). He has also competed professionally in the NLL with the San Diego Seals.

Kevin Crowley
Co-Founder
NLL & MLL VETERAN | 2018 NLL ALL-PRO
Kevin is the only player to be drafted 1st overall in the MLL, NLL and WLA Entry Drafts. Kevin is a New Westminster, BC native and has been dominant at every level lacrosse has to offer. He currently plays in the NLL with the Philadelphia Wings, the MLL with the Philadelphia Barrage and in the WLA with the Salmonbellies. Kevin attended Division 1 Stony Brook University where he holds the record for most points in school history, was a two-time first team All-American, D1 Midfielder of the Year, D1 Player of the Year, and Teewaraton nominee. Kevin has played for Team Canada's Mens National Field Team 3 times (2010, 2014, 2018), and led Team Canada to a World Championship victory in 2014, scoring 5 of the first 6 goals in the Gold Medal game. He was also captain of Team Canada in the 2018 World Games in Israel.

Desi Gonzalez
Head Coach
NCAA CHAMPION | 2X COACH OF THE YEAR
Gonzalez is an accomplished player, coach, and program director with extensive experience developing players at the youth and high school levels. He played collegiately at Limestone University, competing in three National Championship games, and later played professionally while representing Puerto Rico in both field and box lacrosse. He currently serves as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Director at William Penn Charter School, bringing a development-focused approach and extensive recruiting experience to Penn*Lax.

Tom Slate
Head Coach
FORMER PHILLY WING | RADNOR ASSIST. COACH
Slate currently coaches for Big 5 Lacrosse, the Rising Sons, and is the Defensive Coordinator at Episcopal Academy. Tom has over 20 years of playing & coaching experience with Major League Lacrosse and the National Lacrosse League. He also represented Team USA’s Box Team in the inaugural Heritage Cup where Team USA beat Team Canada 21-16.

John Kuhn
Goalie Coach
BOX GOALIE SPECIALIST | USBOXLA CERTIFIED COACH & REFEREE

Kuhn is a longtime box lacrosse coach and goalie specialist who has been part of the Penn*Lax program for many years. A former semi-professional goaltender, he is a USBOXLA-certified coach and referee and has coached across multiple Penn*Lax age groups.
As Penn*Lax Girls Director, Kuhn brings extensive box lacrosse experience and a strong player-development background to the girls program, helping athletes develop the skills, decision-making, and confidence needed to translate the box game to the field.

Drew Lenkaitis
Head Coach

2X CAA CHAMPION | NCAA TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALIST | DELAWARE CAPTAIN

Lenkaitis was a standout midfielder and team captain at the University of Delaware, where he helped the Blue Hens capture back-to-back CAA Championships and make multiple NCAA Tournament appearances. In 2022, he started 11 games, recording 13 goals and 12 assists while helping Delaware advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
A former Unionville High School standout with more than 250 career points, Lenkaitis brings high-level offensive experience, leadership, and a strong player-development approach to Penn*Lax.

Mark Petron
Coach
X PIAA STATE CHAMPION | 2X NATIONAL CHAMPION | MESA OPERATING OWNER
Petrone is one of the Philadelphia area’s most accomplished lacrosse coaches. He spent 17 seasons as Offensive Coordinator at The Haverford School, helping lead the Fords to 13 Inter-Ac titles and undefeated National Championships in 2011 and 2015.
Petrone later helped Radnor win four consecutive PIAA State Championships from 2021–2024 and was named Radnor’s Head Coach in 2026. A Gettysburg College graduate and former collegiate player, he is also an Operating Owner of Mesa Lacrosse and has been a longtime member of the Penn*Lax coaching staff.
